A Guy's View
I Love boats. Always have. some of my dearest memories are of trolling in a row boat with my father on Clear Lake when I was a little kid.
Sun on the water. Shadows. Rain. The sound of water passing along the keel. The luff of the sails. It doesn't get much better.
Dad and I rebuilt an old runabout that had been abandoned near his work. It had no motor, but had a steering wheel and seats, and a big hole in the hull.
I rebuilt the hull, and dad made a trailer for it and found an outboard almost strong enough to push it around. Mom called it "Driftwood."
That began my journey of boat 'gawking.'
I would inveigle my way down the most secure docks, just to look at boats. I loved the varieties of shapes and styles, the skilled use of wood, the clever use of space, and just the wonderful Art it takes to make a beautiful boat.
I knew one day I would live on a boat. I would voyage, adventure. I had no idea how many facets the voyages and adventures would have!

Now the 'I' and 'me' of life has become 'us' and 'we.' At my age, it's hard to imagine someone could share boatlife, and all that it entails. Yet Gabrielle came with such a kind and generous spirit, it's humbling. I am grateful for her every day.
